This website aims to collect as little personal data as possible. No tracking cookies are set, no Google Analytics is used, and no advertising networks are connected.
For basic reach analysis, the following non-personal data is stored: country of origin (derived from the browser's Accept-Language header — no IP analysis), device type, browser family, page visited, referrer domain (domain only, no full URL).
No IP address or permanent identifier is stored. To estimate unique visitors, a daily cohort hash is used (SHA256 of User-Agent + Accept-Language + date), which resets at midnight UTC every day.
All statistics are automatically deleted after 12 months. The longer retention period is justified by the need for seasonal comparison (e.g. summer vs. winter), which requires at least 12 months of data. Legal basis: legitimate interest in aggregated usage analysis (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
No cookies are set for visitors. In the administration area, only technically necessary session cookies are used (no tracking).
Posts can be shared via buttons for Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. These buttons follow the Shariff approach: no scripts from the platform providers are loaded and no cookies are set. Contact with the respective network only occurs when a button is actively clicked.
Clicking "Facebook" or "WhatsApp" opens the platform's share page in a new tab. For Instagram, the system's native share dialog is opened on mobile devices (Web Share API); on desktop, the link is copied to the clipboard.
Readers can leave comments on blog posts. Name, email address, and comment text are collected.
The email address and name are stored solely for:
– Sending a confirmation link (double opt-in)
– Notifying the commenter of the moderation decision
If the email address is not confirmed within 72 hours, the comment is automatically rejected and the email address is deleted.
After the final moderation decision (approved or rejected), the email address is immediately deleted from our database. Only the name appears in the published comment.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent via submission of the comment).
Location pages on this website embed interactive maps. Map tiles are loaded directly from the OpenStreetMap tile server (tile.openstreetmap.org) in the visitor's browser. This transmits the visitor's IP address to the servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF). The OSMF processes this data in accordance with its privacy policy (osmfoundation.org/privacy). Legal basis: legitimate interest in displaying geographical information (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Events can be submitted for publication via a form. The submitter's title, date, location, description, name, and email address are collected.

To display live weather data, the server fetches from the public Open-Meteo API (open-meteo.com). Only geographic coordinates are transmitted — no IP address or personal data of the visitor is sent.
Tide predictions are fetched from the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI, dmi.dk) via their Open Data API. Only station IDs are transmitted — no personal data.
This website provides an AI chatbot (Jette). Conversation inputs are forwarded via OpenRouter to Google Gemini for processing. Messages are stored server-side for a maximum of 30 days and then automatically deleted.
Editorial note: Jette is editorially focused on Fanø and the holiday house Vesten Sandene 44. In relevant conversations, Jette may mention or recommend the holiday house. This is a deliberate editorial choice by the operator — not paid third-party advertising.
Jette is labelled as an AI assistant in accordance with the EU AI Act (Art. 50).
Contact requests and suggestions can be submitted by email (kontaktzenk.dk) or directly via the Jette chatbot. In the chat, a simple message to Jette is enough — she will forward the request to the operator.
This information is stored solely for handling the request, is not passed on to third parties, and is deleted after communication is complete.
